“In a World of Ash” takes the story of THE DETACHMENT beyond its original score. Dazzlar’s sonnet-form lyrics revisit a relationship unraveling during a zombie apocalypse. The release pairs the vocal track with an instrumental version. It is a separate response to the film rather than a collection of cues used in it.

i wasn’t quite done with this film
the score and sound mix were done
dazzlar had helped us rerecord the film’s dialogue
i think we had four sessions and each one ran for hours
i was switching recording software from logic pro to nuendo
he knew cubase, a related program, and helped me through the change
after all that help i wanted to make music with him too
so i made another record inspired by the film’s world
it sits outside the film’s original score
he’s a rapper but here he speaks the words
his character is still there in the voice
i liked having somewhere else to take that feeling
